Veteran Day

REJOICE | REMEMBER | CELEBRATE

Riverfront Park Neighbors, get ready to celebrate Veteran’s Day at Union Station this Saturday November 7th, 2015.

The event takes place at Union Station from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the VFW Post 1 Celebration with music, free food, and activities for all ages.   Jessica Thrasher will once again sing our National Anthem and God Bless America. Jessica has performed at the Outback Bowl, NFL FedEx Field, Dodger Stadium and she is a Marine!  At 6:00 PM the Grand Fireworks Show kicks off (thank you Daylight Savings Time).

Let’s remember why we celebrate Veterans Day and honor those this day is dedicated to.  Veteran’s Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I (November 11) to honor our US veterans and victims of all wars.  Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice went into effect. The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.
