Word on the street is that Tupelo Honey Cafe is coming to Union Station. Announced last week, the restaurant chain with roots in the southeast is moving to Denver and occupying space on the ground floor of Platform. I find this particularly interesting for two reasons: first, this is an important addition to the Union Station district offering another dining option in the Riverfront Park/Union Station neighborhood that has otherwise been underdeveloped sans Union Station itself. Second, this iteration of Tupelo Honey Cafe will be their fourteenth restaurant but the first to appear west of the Mississippi. Considering the bulk of their operation is presently operating in the southeast their commitment to our neighborhood is a flattering gesture and a display of confidence in our local, diverse culture and our economic climate. It’s great to see a business investing in a market that is far removed from their headquarters, area of expertise and most likely, their supply chain, as well. This certainly is a welcome addition to our blossoming food culture and best of all, it’s in our backyard!
So who is Tupelo Honey Cafe? According to their website, they are a savory restaurant serving fresh, scratch-made Southern comfort foods, craft beers & cocktails! Furthermore, their menu is seasonal which means that we get to enjoy an ever-evolving menu of flavors and savory dishes. We’re anticipating a grand opening late fall 2016… stay tuned for updates.
