Say goodbye to fighting traffic jams and delays on your way to DIA.

Say goodbye to circling endlessly looking for a parking spot.

Say goodbye to choosing between expensive garage parking or taking the shuttle from a parking spot in West Kansas.

Because the new RTD Rail Line to Denver International Airport is opening up on Friday April 22nd (also Earth Day).  When it opens up to carry you from Union Station to your flight the one way ticket will only cost you $9.  This is something to celebrate.

For those who live in Riverfront Park, Union Station or any of the great Downtown Denver neighborhoods this is a huge new amenity.  Whether traveling for your next big vacation or a business trip residents of Denver can now enjoy the same public transportation benefit of most major cities.

According to the RTD Website the journey will take a mere 37 minutes connecting you from Downtown to the Airport via a 23 mile heavy rail line.  From 3 am to 6 am service will run every 30 minutes, from 6 am to 8 pm service will run every 15 minutes, and from 8 pm to 1 am service will run every 30 minutes.

Passengers on the University of Colorado A Line will travel on new commuter rail vehicles, just as they will on the B, G and N lines. Commuter rail vehicles have level boarding at all doors of the train, travel up to 79 mph, have a total capacity of 209 people (including seating for 91 people) and have two wheelchair spaces per car. These trains also have larger seats, overhead storage, luggage towers and bicycle racks.

Cheers Denver!  The wait is almost over.  Supposedly there will be a bunch of station parties on opening weekend with music, food and drinks.

Try it for Free

According to the RTD Website you can try the new A line to Denver International Airport FOR FREE on April 22nd and 23rd.  Woot Woot!  It’s time to celebrate and take a test ride.

  1. Can I park free for several days at my station out at Lincoln, take the light rail down to Union Station, rail in to the airport?
